Nemo Finds Gold at NeoCon 2012
At the annual NeoCon World’s Trade Fair in Chicago, the latest innovation from JSJ’s izzy+ struck gold in the 2012 show’s “Best of NeoCon” competition.
The Nemo Bar and Trellis by izzy captured the coveted top award in the Furniture Systems category, a segment of the contract furniture market that long has been dominated by the industry’s largest companies with their cubicle and panel systems.
The new product line, designed by Joey Ruiter of JRuiter + Studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Chuck Saylor, the founder and CEO of izzy+, is a fresh take on furniture that brings people together to work in a more casual and imaginative way.
The recognition for Nemo by izzy, said Saylor, is a sign that the “past is now the past, and a new day has dawned that will unleash and expand the power of collaboration and human connection.”
The Nemo Bar and Trellis by izzy are designed to help create inspiring spaces for next-generation knowledge workers and learners. The Bar offers a hub for connection and collaboration, where ideas may be freely shared. The Trellis provides a sense of enclosure and privacy for one individual to several people at a time, along with options for power and technology.
Equally at home in a corporate office, college setting or airport lounge, the Bar and Trellis create a flexible environment that fosters, supports, and stimulates a free-flowing exchange where two or more are gathered, while also providing a sanctuary for semi-private work or reflection, according to Saylor and Ruiter.
Ruiter and Saylor continue to hone and develop new concepts for the Nemo collection, and several prototype pieces, including lounge seating, low benches, tables and privacy “cocoons” for heads-down work, also were previewed in the izzy+ showroom space in Chicago’s Merchandize Mart during NeoCon 2012.
The 2012 Best of NeoCon Golf award marks the 11th time in 12 years that brands and strategic partners of the izzy+ business have earned honors at the annual North American exhibition of contract furnishings.
The employees of izzy+ (www.izzyplus.com) design, manufacture and market office furniture and seating that solve real problems for real people.
