One Hot Duo – Dake and Holohan’s Hot Rod Shop

Who do you call when you want to start your own company? If you’re an expert hot rod fabricator like Dan Holohan, you look to your most successful friends for advice. And you steal a quick look around their shops to find out who supplies their top tools.

In Dan’s case, all it took was one email to Dake. A few weeks later, he was open for business. We helped him equip the new Holohan’s Hot Rod Shop for metal fabrication with a vertical band saw for cutting sheet metal and tubing, a hydraulic press for bending and forming, a drill press for drilling and tapping holes, and a high-speed grinder for metal removal.

Dan Holohan cuts tubing to fabricate custom headers.

We’re excited to be a partner with Dan. He built a solid reputation in the hot rod world as head fabricator at Rad Rides and lead project fabricator at Detroit Speed and Engineering. He became part of a mutual admiration society with friends of Dake, like Dan Webb of Webb Automotive Art and Chip Foose of Foose Design. Dan knew their shops used Dake metal fabricating equipment. That’s why when he decided to hang a sign with his name on it in Mooresville, North Carolina, Dake had to be part of his shop too.

But there’s even more to this happy ending. Mooresville, North Carolina, is right in the heart of NASCAR country. Within 30 days of receiving his own Dake equipment, Dan became a Dake distributor, selling Dake machinery to area NASCAR shops. His first resale order: a 25-ton press, a mitering band saw, belt grinder and drill press.

In our business, it’s about friends helping friends. Congratulations, Dan! We look forward to a long, rewarding partnership.
