Sparks opens a Seattle facility to serve the fishing industry

If you’re a fan of fish sticks and fish sandwiches, your next drive-through order is likely made possible by the hard-working people who make up North America’s commercial fishing industry.

A commitment to grow and a distinct ability to serve this industry have netted Sparks a group of exciting new business relationships in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.

While Sparks has long specialized in the food processing and handling industries, we now serve factory trawlers that process fish while still at sea, in an area of the world long known for its commercial fishing market. Trawler operators quickly get hooked on our flat, lightweight traditional conveyor belts, modular conveyor belts and motorized pulleys that help transport seafood through a variety of processes before it is packaged and sold.

“We’ve always been interested in Seattle, Portland, Alaska and Vancouver as a large geographic market with great potential. Combined with the commercial fishing market, we see both this region and the seafood industry as significant growth opportunities,” says Bruce Dieleman, vice president of sales and marketing at Sparks. “We now have a facility in Kent, Washington, to locally serve local businesses who need conveyor and pulley solutions designed to meet food grade requirements, and that will help make their operations safe and efficient.”
