JSJ Employees United Behind United Way

In Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas and Florida, employees in JSJ businesses are generous contributors to the United Way – through volunteer leadership, by participating in hands-on Day of Caring projects, and by donating thousands of dollars from their own paychecks. JSJ makes their contributions go even further by matching these funds up to 50 percent.

One special campaign we support in Oceana County, which will be overseen by Michigan’s United Way of the Lakeshore office, is establishing the CALL 2-1-1 program. CALL 2-1-1 is a national abbreviated dialing code for free access to health and human service information and referral 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

People can dial 211 to navigate the complex maze of human service agencies and programs. The CALL Specialist who receives the telephone call will assess the caller’s needs and link that person to the right solution using a comprehensive database of services – federal, state and local; government and non-profit. By making services easier to access, 211 helps people avoid crisis and fosters self-sufficiency.

JSJ also provided office space and furniture for the Ottawa County CALL 2-1-1 program at its GHSP business in Grand Haven, Michigan, until the new regional office was established in late 2006.
