JSJ to Sponsor Fireworks Spectacular in 2009
The annual Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival honors the men and women of the United States Coast Guard in many ways, with events that attract people from throughout the region. The Festival features everything from the Coast Guard Walk of History, Coast Guard Cutter ship tours and Coast Guard retirees' dinner to a pancake breakfast, 5/10K run, street dance, waterfront concerts, carnival rides and a good, old-fashioned Grand Parade.
At JSJ, we look forward to the Festival every year as a high point of our beautiful Lake Michigan summer. And now our employees and their families have another reason to get excited about this widely acclaimed event in Coast Guard City USA.
In 2009, JSJ again will sponsor the festival's huge, must-see Fireworks Spectacular. Next year's fireworks event, which annually draws more than 150,000 residents, visitors and vacationers, will be held August 1, 2009, during the final Saturday evening of the popular lakeshore celebration.
"It was a pleasure to work with JSJ this year, and we are excited that they plan to continue supporting the Festival with this sponsorship," says Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival Executive Director Mike Smith.
Since 1924, the Coast Guard and the residents of the Tri-Cities (Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg) have celebrated the importance and significance of the United States Coast Guard, as vital to the health of the economics of the Lake Michigan region, and the safety of all those who work, transit and recreate on Lake Michigan.
